Magnificent thread.
Some who were wrong were simply mistaken.
But many ‘knew’ they were wrong, when they said what they were saying.
Them?
They’re culpable.

I’ve seen COVID & long COVID cause so much heartbreaking harm over the past three years, but it’s still a shock to see that Roman Kostomarov, Olympic figure skating champion, has lost the two feet that led him to the Olympic victory in Turin in 2006

The Russian figure skater has won the fight for his life, after being in very serious condition in recent months.

A coronavirus infection that seemed manageable turned into severe pneumonia in January, followed by stroke, brain hemorrhage and severe circulatory disturbances.

In addition to his feet, the two-time world champion also had two fingers on his left hand amputated.

I sure hope that doesn’t happen with exhausted T cells no longer exposed to SARS Cov 2 …

They were wrong about herd immunity via infection when I said it would not be met in 2020. The evidence came later.

The immunologists willing to speak elaborated about a herd immunity threshold by infection which did not exist. https://bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3563

It was at that time that I said no such threshold would be met by infection because the dominant effect was immune escape and evolution rather than immunity. I heard of a few that literally wept when Omicron emerged and were beside themselves.

The difference between a mere experimentalist and a scientist with scientific imagination, is that one can theorize with mental models in order to project and anticipate likely scenarios from the unknown.

Now the question is, what is the benefit of subject expertise, and does one have a moral obligation for disclosure of risk- a ‘duty of candor,’ as it were. If you speak out you risk alienating yourself and being wrong. However, the consequences of not accurately appreciating the outcome of the path we were headed on seemed to outweigh the selfish interests of keeping my head down and not opposing many Senior and serious immunologists who anticipated widespread immunity rather than disability and harm.

This is why I warned in 2020 that we risked widespread T cell exhaustion, which would have its own set of consequences, due to widespread covid. I also claimed reinfections would be significant due to the intrinsic pathogenicity of the virus and the substantial immune evasion. I also claimed each infection was aging the T cell repertoire broadly. I also said life expectancy would drop significantly, something I was opposed for.

The leaders in the field were so confident, they called the hypotheses and warnings, ‘nonsense.’

Currently, there is very little in the field that I would disagree with.

1) You all have accepted that there is no herd immunity to sars cov 2 by infection 2) you all have seen the decreased life expectancy 3) you all have seen reinfections are not like a cold or flu like Baric said they would be 4) you all accept there is widespread Long Covid and its pathognomonic T cell exhaustion (I never claimed to originate the idea, but I was willing to say it would be a significant risk to the population

What you and others oppose me about is the role of ‘immunity gap’ in the population when it comes to unseasonally more severe and predominant illness, while I claim there is a harm to the immune system from Covid that can account for these effects

The ‘evidence’ of what I would project by mechanism must be seen epidemiologically, and it is being seen

1) The BMJ published individuals who had covid were at greater risk of Strep Tonsillitis https://bmj.com/content/380/bmj-2022-072529

2) Chinese scientists found that children who had severe RSV were more likely to have tested positive for Sars Cov 2 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37292931/

Those mechanisms would include lower pDCs among convalescents, T cell exhaustion, anergy, and lymphopenia secondary to sars cov 2

I understand if many do not take me seriously. I was brushed off as an alarmist when I said there would be no herd immunity, there would be widespread T cell exhaustion, and that life expectancy would fall. However, given all of their errors and the behavior of people like yourself, including the arrogance and dismissiveness of people like Carlos Del Rio, Vincent Rajkumar, Vincent Raccaniello, the incessant pronouncements of herd immunity by people like Monica Gandhi and others, and the false reassurances that Long Covid would be rare and have decreased rates of reinfections by the top immunologist in the United States, I no longer take all your opinions seriously as well.

And thus the question is this-

Did immunologists not opposing the idea we would reach herd immunity fail to oppose it because of error or because they lacked the moral fortitude to oppose the field?

Either scenario they failed at their greatest calling of the century

Chris Alvino@ChrisAlvino:

I still can’t get over HOW MANY immunologists were pushing herd immunity. Glad you saved some of the receipts though. You’ve been doing the good work as a scientist with true scientific imagination, a trait severely lacking in too many right now

Terra @VanIsleVeggie:

Well, I suppose when you’re dead you have a “super immunity” of sorts…

Terri Brandmueller@tbrandmueller Feb 4, 2022:

The body language here is disturbing. She actually does a little puppy dog wiggle when she says “super immune” Do her comms people not review these videos with her? Ugh

Tannis Bell @TannisBell1 Feb 4, 2022:

The info I have is that infection can weaken the immune system & lead to greater susceptibility to reinfection.

There’s no upside to being infected. “Super-immunity”? What comic book did she get that from?

Henry is a danger to people’s health & well-being & must be terminated. In my view, that’ll never happen. Dr. Henry’s job appears to be to destroy public health in Canada, and sees/saw sickening as many as possible with COVID as an efficient way to do that, serving for-profit/private health corporate buddies, thus why she constantly promotes lies putting people and public health at risk. Telus Health anyone?

Christine Guenter@ChristineGuent8 Feb 4, 2022:

She’s “Monica Gandhi North…” So very wrong and extremely irresponsible. I have a friend going through cancer treatment, saw this, and seriously thought about getting infected to boost her immunity. I’ve had to literally scream from the rooftops, NO! But Bonnie said it…SO!

What do you think was the most successful lie ever told?

Radical Centrist, wrathful tantric deity @RadCentrism:

That a pandemic pathogen which kills 22+ million in its first 3.5 years is super mild.Along with “frac’ing is perfectly safe and helps the environment.”

Everyone who lied (or was publicly an idiot about) ‘natural immunity’ against SARS2 accelerated the rise of this lunatic.Kennedy Jr. is as untrustworthy and dishonest as our public health officers trying to infect us all with SARSC0V2. Kennedy Jr. lied about and pimped frac’ing (said it was good for the environment) serving big oil and gas, along with Sierra Club (got caught accepting $26 million in secret donations, aka bribes, from frac’ers, mostly Chesapeake) and other NGOs.

“‘I do not believe that infectious disease is an enormous threat to human health,’ Kennedy added”

A must read. One of the best texts about pandemic.

Discusses the fundamental topic: the shift in framework of dealing with epidemic/pandemic.

Dissects the misleading narrative of “flattening the curve”. And the inhumane policy of not primarily protecting people’s health.

One of the sentences that I find darkly insightful:

“While the ostensible goal was to reduce overall casualties, it was not to prevent a huge number of deaths and serious long-term disability, only to stretch it out in time to make it more acceptable to society.

Memory from my backyard:

In Alberta in 2020/21 some influential ppl were vehemently & effectively obstructing pro-elimination framework advocacy.

Proposing instead that 300-400 daily cases was ok. Which means 3-4 daily deaths, ~30-80 ppl per day ending up with LongCovid

It’s taboo to mention Covid as a cause of brain fog in Sweden because they pursued herd immunity by infection with intent

David Steadson #NAFO @DavidSteadson jul 16, 2023:

One of Sweden’s top newspapers today, @aftonbladet.

“200000 affected. How you can get rid of Brain Fog. The expert’s methods. Symptoms.”

Anyone want to guess what is not mentioned once?

jorgenponder — om coronavirusepidemin@jorgenponder jul 16:

In the ensuing thread it is noted that near the end, “connections”, to “so called postcovid” is mentioned.

But generally speaking, Swedish media has the subject as taboo. The recent Swedish postcovid study published in The Lancet is ignored in the news.

covid is a bioweapon like weed killer is a bioweapon. it’s obviously fucking poison, yet swaths of privileged ppl willfully spread it wherever the fuck they please to fall in line with the status quo. they’ll sooner kill their kids than allow a dandelion or wear a mask.
