“Getting the information is ridiculously difficult,”…But Urbina was adamant that it was that collection of information that has gotten scientists from the Environmental Protection Agency to scrutinize the drilling industry more closely recently, he said. Another challenge is a well-funded and aggressive industry public relations effort to discredit his work, but Urbina said so far he has not had to make any corrections to his stories, despite “intense pushback.” “I’ve been surprised by some of the misinformation the industry has put forward, and the pressure has been intense,” he said. “We plan on sticking with the topic.”
