Let’s listen to science and trust science when it’s convenient (rockets, cell phones, internet, vehicles, medicine) but just not when it will interrupt the use of our rockets, cell phones, internet, vehicles, medicine. Capitalism truly is the root of the problem.

Tech Giants’ Indirect Emissions Rose 150% in Three Years as AI Expands by Olivia Le Poidevin, June 5, 2025, Reuters
According to a report from the International Telecommunication Union, indirect carbon emissions from Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta increased 150% from 2020 to 2023 due to the energy demands of data centers. Amazon saw the highest increase at 182%Time to stop shopping on Amazon, shop local instead, walk there and back or ride a bike. Besides, who wants to help Nazi Bezos make more billions?
, followed by Microsoft at 155%. The rapid growth of artificial intelligence is driving a sharp rise in global electricity demand, with electricity use by data centers increasing four times faster than the overall rise in electricity consumption.
NOAA Reports That Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Levels Have Broken Seasonal Records by Sharon Udasin, June 6, 2025, The Hill
Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide made history in May by climbing to their highest seasonal peak available in historical records.
For the first time ever, these levels surpassed 430 parts per million (ppm) at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, which is considered the global benchmark site for tracking atmosphericcarbon dioxide. The 430.2 ppm calculation for May marked a 3.5 ppm increase over May 2024’s reading of 426.7 ppm
Inside EPA’s Backdoor Bid to Stop Regulating Climate Pollution by Jean Chemnick, May 30, 2025, E&E News
EPA is expected to soon argue that the U.S. power sector doesn’t contribute “significantly” to climate change

– a bid that could give the agency cover to not regulate planet-warming emissions from a wide range of sources.
EPA included the argument in its draft repeal of Biden-era rules to limit pollution from power plants. The agency bolsters its argument by stating in the draft sent to the White House that U.S. fossil fuel power plants account for 3 percent of global emissions. The assertion would take advantage of a section of the Clean Air Act that instructs the EPA administrator to decide whether a category of sources contributes enough harmful pollution to warrant regulation. That could offer a backdoor avenue for EPA to stop regulating most climate pollutionWatch Carney copy this evil stupidity.

Your ‘moment of doom’ for June 8, 2025 ~ Climate cliché alert!
“The deeper in the ocean they looked, the worse the findings were, the scientists said. At 200 metres below the surface, 60% of global waters had breached the ‘safe’ limit for acidification.”
@timrote.bsky.social:
Humans require healthy oceans to survive and the oceans are very sick. The evidence is overwhelming.

Remember this from last year, where schools of dead fish were washing up along the coast of Hokkaido, Japan.
Our ocean is dying

Will we say to our grandchildren, “I tried my hardest”?
@ecowarriorss.bsky.social:
I do not believe there will be future generations as we are heading towards a hot house Earth unless there was a dramatic change in human behavior which I do not see
I agree. And humanity’s death will be hideous, many are already dying terrible deaths and enduring horrific suffering because of our species’ greed, callous, selfishness, laziness (choosing stupidity like Trump and Piss Pants Poilievre, instead of critical thinking), over population and stupidly bowing ass up to religions which are misogynistic anti-life cruel propaganda machines of hatred, rape, murder, theft, greed and horror, and our relentless toxic pollution. A fitting end for earth’s most dreadful species.
@cathobrian.bsky.social:
Indeed. The ocean acidification time bomb isn’t ticking anymore – it has exploded, breaching the planetary boundary. But admitting that would threaten business as usual economics.
@stephenleahy.bsky.social:
Oceans have done us another big favor by taking in about 30% of the CO2 we have emitted since 1890. (Approx 150 BILLION tons).
But oceans are becoming more acidic as a result.
Trump Fired the Heat Experts. Now He Might Kill Their Heat Rule by Ariel Wittenberg, June 3, 2025, E&E News
When federal regulators were crafting a first-ever proposal to protect workers from extreme heat, they relied on government health experts who had been working on the deadly effects of high temperatures for years. Now that entire team is gone due to President Donald Trump’s personnel purges. It comes ahead of summertime heat waves that are intensifying because of climate change, raising the stakes for the 2024 draft heat rule that took decades to propose and whose fate now rests in the hands of an administration that is eviscerating climate programsAnd hates ordinary workers, notably if not white men.
Extreme heat kills more U.S. residents annually than all other disasters.

So much of the world of these dudes is based on the idea that the “realistic”, “pragmatic” and “rational” thing to do is to commit civilisational suicide by boiling ourselves alive.
