Subscribe to Michael de Adder’s Substack for his brilliant cartoons that the extreme right at Postmedia are too cowardly to publish
@BinkyBaxter1:
Allowing an American hedge fund to control the vast majority of Canadian newspapers (Postmedia) is utter madness.
We need voices like yours, Michael. I encourage everyone to support Michael de Adder via substack.
The Chronicle Herald under Postmedia, Despite layoffs, Postmedia said don’t expect big changes to Atlantic Canadian newspapers. Here are your changes at the Chronicle Herald by Michael de Adder, Oct 15, 2024, Substack

This is the entire news section of the Halifax Chronicle Herald. Eight pages on two broadsheets.
Two of the pages are propaganda ads for Alberta energy, telling you the government is to blame for the high price of groceries and the only thing that can save you is Alberta energy.
…
This is the Opinion section now.
-No cartoon, the first time since before WWII.Postmedia Repugnant Cons, the Alberta gov’t (no matter what stripe) and Premier Danielle Smith are cheap vengeful sleazy truth fuckers.
…
-And an opinion piece on how Nova Scotia should use Alberta, yet Alberta again, as an example of cost cutting in education. No mention of the drawbacks to charter schools.
…
One of the comments:

Indeed, Whole of hypocrites – Conservative slant.
Based on my experience teaching in state and charter schools, I’ve observed a significant difference in accountability. Charter schools often operate with less oversight, which raises concerns about maintaining consistent educational standards and support, especially for students with specialized needs, such as those in the Deaf community.
On Election Day in 2015, Stephen Harper’s campaign posted a front-cover Yellow Stain ad in National Post newspapers across Canada: “Vote Liberal will cost you.” Harper lost and made a big fool of himself. I can’t believe how much money Conservatives spend and waste on it. It’s disgraceful. They are going to do that again this time. Ugh!

If an oil company ran this ad, @GreenpeaceCA would challenge it as greenwash as linked website:
- claims there is a production cap (there isn’t)
- claims O&G emissions are coming down (they’re not)
- says it will cost you $419/mth, based on assumptions of a false production cap
For example, the feds have NEVER said they will cap production – have always said they are capping emissions (in line with the net zero targets formally committed to by oil sands companies and the AB government itself).
$7M Alberta advertising campaign against oil and gas emissions cap rolling out in 5 provincesI’ve never yet heard Alberta Premier Danielle Smith or UCP tell the truth about the oil and gas industry’s health harming and earth’s livability destroying pollution. And, I’ve never heard Danielle Smith tell the truth about anything. The American hedge fund greedy fuckers that own Postmedia Oilnews must love this big cash bonus from stupid selfish greedy Alberta taxpayers (stupid, selfish and greedy because of how Albertans vote, generation after generation after generation, for con gov’ts that consistently abuse Albertans).

Collusion between a government and large media corporation to spread disinformation is never a good thing. It reeks of fascism. @TimothySnyder

Danielle Smith (Parody) @ABDanielSmith:
Albertans are fed up with a useless incompetent provincial government. The UCP’s relentless attacks on things like renewable energy, land title/transfer fees, and unpaid property taxes hits your wallet hard.
The UCP complete mismanagement of government finances has left millions of Albertans without a family doctor and people literally dying to get treatment. Schools are over capacity and housing costs have skyrocketed. All while this UCP government does nothing to help struggling families.
Alberta has the fewest jobs and higher costs for essentials like utility rates and auto insurance leaving you with less income for groceries, transportation, housing, and the basic cost of living.
Our divisive attitude keeps people focused on attacking Ottawa, the carbon tax, chemtrails, vaccines, the WEF/WHO, trans people, even AHS (and the doctors and nurses who work there), all so they can keep people angry and distracted from figuring out the UCP is to blame for the hard times they’re living in.
Alberta is drawing the line and we need Albertans to wake up! Please visit https://abresistance.ca to once again help us shove the conspiracy-filled corrupt UCP back into whatever hole they climbed out of.
Help make sure all Albertans have doctors, nurses, teachers, and social services when and where they need it. A pension where the government isn’t dipping their hands in for oil & gas profit. A province where corruption is punished
Help us Scrap the Crap!

2011: Hydraulic fracturing would destroy Nova Scotia
… “Nova Scotia’s fishing, agriculture and tourism industries would not mix well with the influx of oil and gas companies that would occur if fracturing was permitted,” Ernst said in an interview from her home in Rosebud, Alta.
She said hydraulic fracturing has contaminated wells in Rosebud and other central Alberta communities and has no place in Nova Scotia.
“Even in Alberta, where we have the geographic vastness to support the industry and the process, there have been so many problems,” she said. “There are so many wonderful little rural communities in Nova Scotia. It’s inconceivable that government or regulators would allow fracturing to occur there.”
The Nova Scotia government has just released the final scope and technical comments for its technical and policy review of hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking. …
Ernst said all Nova Scotians should pay close attention to the province’s review of fracking and make sure it carefully considers not just the immediate issues related to the technology and environment but also the entire range of socio-economic issues involved.
“Nova Scotia does not want to be a little Alberta,” she said. “Consider the social and development problems occurring in a place like Fort McMurray as a result of the oil and gas industries.
“Hydraulic fracturing would destroy Nova Scotia.” …
“I’ve filed my lawsuit (in Alberta) and now wait for statements of defence,” she said. “It will be before the courts for many years, but of course the damage is already done.”
