I just got let go from the Halifax Chronicle Herald after almost 30 years.
I’m going to be honest, I didn’t even listen to the reason. I know the reason. They’ve decided to stop being a newspaper and officially become a flyer. So I hung up.
It used to be the better you were, the safer you were at a newspaper. Now the better you are the more terrified they are.
Yup.
I’ve worked with 36 editors and only one would say I was difficult. But truthfully I wasn’t difficult even to him. He was an asshole.

So sorry to hear this. I can’t believe every newspaper in North America isn’t clamoring to hire you on. There are only two cartoonists who have held my attention over the years. Gary Larson and you. Chappatte, Terry Mosher and Rob Rogers (Rob does the best orange monster lips) are also brilliant cartoonistsYour illustrations really do help me (us) feel like we aren’t alone in our dismay and bewilderment at the world around us.

Michael de Adder is more than a Canadian treasure, his cartoons are brilliant, important globally and actually tell the news.
