The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can’t tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. “I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children.”

Can confirm that my horse loved carrot cake for his birthday each year, but with none of that terrifying boy-killing fire on top.
Since people seem to be extremely into the horse-cake photo…here are his 30th and 31st birthday cakes, and a before-and-after of him eating a slice. There was always singing and sometimes balloons. He died just short of his 34th birthday, a good, long life for a horse.
Give the horse cake!
