Heavy-handed tactics

Heavy-handed tactics by Paul Cachia, September 19, 2007, The Edmonton Journal
The EUB is using private investigators to monitor its opponents. The board paints them as violent people who must be controlled. Its solution is to bar the public from hearings and only allow them to observe the proceedings on closed-circuit television. The EUB is redefining public participation in the process under the guise of guaranteeing the safety of the board. It has decided that special measures are required to control those among us who would question the board’s process and the decisions it is imposing on the public. People who question the EUB are seen as standing in the way of economic progress and are treated like subversives. Will the provincial government support this approach?
