The CRA has finally revoked the charitable status of the Canadian Zionist Cultural Association (CZCA).
This comes over four years after @AdvocatesJust and I represented @RabbiMivasair
and Khaled Mouammar in their CRA complaint, alleging a Canadian charity to Israeli military pipeline
The CZCA has long funnelled millions of dollars to organizations that benefit Israeli soldiers and effectively subsidize Israel’s Ministry of Defence. This included sending money to Friends of the IDF, the Association for Israel’s Soldiers, and others.

This conduct appears to have been a clear breach of CRA policy, which states that it is not charitable to support the armed forces of another country.
The alleged breach was so blatant that, at one point, the Israeli armed forces even advertised on their website that the CZCA was “authorized to raise donations for the IDF.” That reference was curiously removed shortly after the complaint was filed in 2021.
The CZCA also supported a scholarship and mentorship program for individuals who served in “Duvdevan” – an undercover commando unit of the Israeli military that has been the subject of widespread criticism for alleged human rights violations.
The revocation of the CZCA’s status, while welcome, should never have taken this long.
How many Palestians did they finance the murder of in those four years and how many West Bank family farms and homes did CZCA help Israel steal?
Prompt enforcement by the CRA is required to uphold the rule of law and prevent Canadian organizations from misusing their charitable status to support the Israeli military.
