Power washing is underway at Austin Master Services, the company accused of storing illegal amounts of radioactive and fracking waste in Martins Ferry, Mayor John Davies said.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) told 7News the first phase of the cleanup was completed August 9, 2024.
In a statement from November 2024, the ODNR stated the deadline for full remediation was set for May 23, 2025. In that statement, the ODNR explained,
“The remediation requires thorough cleaning, which will involve multiple rounds of power washing throughout the entire site.”
At this week’s council meeting, Mayor Davies told 7News part of the cleanup involved using rail cars. The mayor also said power washing began at the facility.

“They’ll power wash it, then they’ll test it,” Mayor Davies said. “If it’s not contaminated anymore, they’ll move on to the next section. If it’s contaminated, they go back and power wash it again.”
The ODNR has said they will not be re-permitting the site to be used by a different oil and gas waste company.Instead, they’ll permit it for a day care, or perhaps a centre for seniors? Put Trump in there, his Nazi pal Musk and the DOGE boys, with no PPE. Let them drink the power wash waste until it’s gone and the site is clean.
