Alberta has been heavily, often illegally (with blessings and deregulation by govt’, AER and Alberta Environment) frac’d by oil and gas companies now for 25 years, with more and more companies wanting to frac more and more. What will Alberta do when the water is gone or too dangerous to use, even to flush toilets, like mine, illegally frac’d by Encana/Ovintiv?

We all fought to inform people and now 20 years later they have figured that the
Oil patch have lied and stolen their water. It makes me sad to read these things but also angry that when we were trying to to turn on their light bulbs, they thought we were lunatics or whining about something that would never happen.
A proportion (25% to 100%) of the water used in hydraulic fracturing is not recovered, and consequently this water is lost permanently to re-use, which differs from some other water uses in which water can be recovered and processed for re-use.

A number of farmers near Rimbey, Alta., are raising concerns about a nearby hydraulic fracturing (fracking) operation, saying they believe its significant use of water is having an impact on their businesses.
“The consequences on our herd, it’s devastating,” said Butch Smith, who added his family has operated a bison farm in the area for three decades.
“Our animals in the feedlot — for three-and-a-half months — did zero gain on full feed, our yearlings, which is the way we make our living.”
Smith and others have voiced concerns ever since Calgary-based Spartan Delta Corp. began work on its fracking operation last year after purchasing land to do so in the area.
The Alberta Energy Regulator describes fracking as “a technique used to break up the rocks deep inside the earth to help get the oil and natural gas flowing,”In other words, frac’ing the caprock to hell, putting all Alberta groundwater at risk of contamination and loss, and letting pollutants like methane and sour gas rise to surface, poisoning the minds and bodies of people and animals living or visiting there, and worsening global warming, which is already severe, and threatening lives. noting the process has been used in more than 180,000 wells in the province since the 1950s.

Spartan Delta Corp.’s operation uses hoses to pull in water from sources that can be several kilometres away in order to feed a reservoir, which some area farmers told Global News is leaving their water sources low, drying up their pastures and making it difficult to sustain their livestock.
Last fall, I tracked and photographed a foot wide water hose which took water for frac’ing from a local fishing hole and was laid for over 20 km north of Rosebud, along and north and south of Highway 9, by Persist Oil and Gas (whose CEO, Massimo ‘Mass’ Geremia, reportedly sleazily bankrupted Manitok to dump the liabilities on us, the public, via the flaky bogus Orphan Well program while keeping the good stuff, changing company name, and continuing to frac Alberta, her water and people; and broke the law turning an oil and gas lease by Cochrane Alberta into an energy wasting water gobbling bitcoin data centre without a lease or even notifying the landowner impacted by it). I expect Geremia doesn’t give a damn he got caught, and will break the law again and again, with blessings from AER and UCP. Wonder what his next company will be named? HaHa Fooled Ya Frac Enterprises?
A few days ago, on June 12, in the morning, a land agent for Persist rudely invaded my privacy and property without an appointment or notifying me first, wanting to consult about a multiwell frac pad to be installed by this very bad company with its evil CEO near my already heavily frac-impacted home and frac contaminated water well, ensuring there will be no clean air or peace or safety for me and my community. Ever heard of Canada Post or Email you Persist frac fuckers?
They frac you, contaminate you, destroy your dreams and lives, and frac you again and again and again and fucking again, just like rapists of kids our judges keep letting go free.
“Nobody sees what goes on in these communities — the effect it has, the loss of livestock in these areas,” said Dustin Dial, an area farmer.
“We’re having to sell off livestock because we can’t water them.”
Smith said the water issues, combined with noise from the oil and gas company’s construction work, also resulted in his family selling some of its herd.
“Our aquifer’s not refilling,” he said. “And I would say if they keep pumping water the way they are, we’ll be out of water in no time flat — and then what do we do?”
Spartan Delta Corp. took part in a town hall with members of the community in the fall and another public meeting that will involve the AER is set to take place next month to talk about the issues.
In a statement to Global News, a company spokesperson said it “strictly adheres to all regulations — as set out by the Alberta Energy Regulator and Alberta Environment.”So what? AER is industry’s self regulator – a lying untrustworthy corrupt triple douche fucker of Albertans, our water, air, land, communities and families, and enabler of oil and gas industry crimes. Dildo Danielle Smith put her good pal on the board, so it’s more dirty than usual.
Encana broke every law and regulation in place to protect Alberta water; AER and Alberta Environment engaged in fraud to help the company cover it up and get away with it, and bullied, lied and abused us frac harmed Albertans, to the manic degree of AER violating my charter rights trying to terrify me silent, banishing me from energy regulation if i didn’t stop talking to friends, family and the public about its crimes and Encana’s, judging me a criminal without any evidence or even letting me know I was being judged and a few years later in a court filing writing that I had no charter rights to protect because I am a terrorist, again without any evidence. “Strictly adhering to all regulations – as set out by the AER” means dick all.
It’s been known for years that there is no regulation or law that can make frac’ing safe other than criminalizing it. Thanks to Encana’s frac’ing and AER’s criminality, I’ve been forced to rely on hauled alternate water for nearly 20 years. I am very tired, near the end of my life, and disgusted and fed up with Albertans, notably rural cause most are cowards and more interested in money than safe communities and drinking water, AER, gov’t, our lazy dishonest frac harm enabling media, and lying abusive harmful water-destroying frac’rs. Hauling water gets harder and harder for me every month: Frac Compendium 9: From 65 studies to “an avalanche” of nearly 2,500 showing evidence of harm from frac’ing. Dr. Sandra Steingraber: “Fracking resembles lead paint or indoor smoking — no rules or regulations can make these practices safe.”
Spartan Delta Corp. noted that it has already been audited 39 times to ensure it is complying with its responsibilities.Permanently intentionally removing vital water from the hydrogeological cycle is a crime not just against humanity, but against all life. In my view, AER is as criminal as every Alberta frac’er is.

Calgary oil and gas company Persist Oil and Gas Inc. has been ordered to remove all its equipment from a piece of land it leased in Rocky View County after it was found to be operating an illegal Bitcoin mining operation at the site. Geremia admitted he didn’t obtain permits for Bitcoin mining from the Alberta Utilities Commission, Land and Property Rights Tribunal or Rocky View County.
The Alberta Court of King’s Bench said March 10 that Massimo ‘Mass’ Geremia breached the terms of a lease with property owner Roy Flowers. Persist installed multiple one-megawatt gas generators, computers and other equipment designed for mining Bitcoin in April 2021. Natural gas was used to power the compressor when gas prices were low enough for it to be more profitable to mine Bitcoin. The original 10-year lease expired in 2019 and Persist didn’t have a new one.
When oil and gas company Manitok Energy went out of business in 2018, it sent tens of millions worth of environmental liabilities to the Orphan Well Association, the non-profit responsible for cleaning up the messes left behind by bankrupt oil and gas companies.
Less than a year later, new company Persist Oil and Gas Inc, with the same CEO Massimo 'Mass' Geremia, acquired all of Manitok's remaining non-orphan well assets ... while dumping the liabilities on taxpayers. Albertan farmers see shitholes like Mass Geremia come in, run up huge bills, and then evaporate. The public get left with the bill, and the farmer gets stuck with the deteriorating wells. It costs around $229,000 on average to plug and reclaim wells, with related pipelines and facilities doubling that cost.Using $200k, and ignoring infrastructure, the 181 orphan wells pure shitbag Massimo ‘Mass’ Geremia ran away from will cost in the realm of $72 million.
