Very illuminating. Any law that implements the IHRA definition would risk infringing the constitutional protection of political speech in Australia and be liable to be struck down by the High Court. But I hope we don’t end up at that point because in the meantime we might see Australian citizens punished and possibly imprisoned for expressing legitimate political and legal opinions that criticise Zionism and the conduct of the Israeli state, especially in relation to war crimes, human rights atrocities and the genocide of Palestinians as a people.
