Congratulations Samira Mohyeddin! Wins 2025 Ken Filkow Prize. Well deserved. Thank you Pen Canada for honouring Ms. Moheyddin!

“Samira Mohyeddin is a Toronto based journalist and broadcaster. She is founder and managing editor of On the Line Media.

Jurors unanimously selected Mohyeddin as the recipient of this year’s prize, and in their citation said:

Samira Mohyeddin has become a leading voice in Canada for the recognition of the fundamental rights of Palestinians while also condemning long-standing violations of Palestinian rights by the government of Israel. Samira has faced threats outside work, an attack on a family business, and death threats as a direct result of her journalism.”

@CaiStark:

Exactly the right choice by PEN Canada!

@SMohyeddin Nov 27, 2025:

Currently listening to the Canadian government argue that it does not have an obligation or responsibility to stop genocide.

@46nd2:

Sad news for all of our grandfather’s who fought and died fighting in WW2!

@ACuntas4788:

I wonder whether all the “Canadians” who flood twitter with “it’s not a genocide” would have focused their energy on the same type of skepticism with “it’s not a holocaust” during WWII
