I think it all comes down to the issue of women being expected to do unpaid labour. If they do it at home, why not on the job as well? After all, women’s work isn’t “real” work.

The union held firm. They committed to going to jail and facing millions in fines to fight for their jobs.
The company and government colluded to undermine the workers, and their heavy handed authoritarian behaviour backfired.

It appears once the union rejected the government’s back-to-work bullshit Air Canada execs folded immediately, faced with a unified front of labour and supporters. Big lesson here.Stand united against inhumane greed and corrupt gov’t serving that greed always wins. Always. A tentative agreement has been reached to end the contract dispute between Air Canada and its flight attendants, both the airline and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced Tuesday.
CUPE, which represents more than 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants, said that after nine hours of talks with the assistance of the chief mediator appointed by the federal government, the deal struck will be presented to its membership, who will have an opportunity to ratify it.
The union gave few details on the agreement but said it guarantees ground pay for its members — something that’s been a major sticking point in talks so far.
Ground pay is compensation for work performed while planes are on the ground, and flight attendants historically haven’t been paid for this time spent loading and unloading passengers, or when flights are cancelled or delayed.
“Unpaid work is over. We have reclaimed our voice and our power,” the union said in a statement provided to CBC News.

Air Canada’s CEO gave striking flight attendants more reason to defy a government order to go back to work.
On BNN Bloomberg, CEO Michael Rousseau says the company didn’t make provisions for passengers with cancelled flights because it assumed government would enforce Section 107 to end the strike.

He and Carney assumed workers would roll overI believe they assumed this because those two rich men in positions of power are cowards and would have rolled over instantly, had the rolls been reversed.
