@hab3261.bsky.social 2026:
For those new to the game Smith has been doing this gig for over a year. The referendum was based on the #AlbertNext Propaganda Tour. BTW Lunty was on the panel – the guy now heading the gerrymandering committee.
· Sep 1, 2025:
All the panelists and the moderator are complicit in the hate, the division, the antidemocratic, anti-immigration grievance propaganda town halls that are spreading. They are all complicit in what the premier is promoting, and this will be part of their legacy

@thatheatherc.bsky.social:
… Yes, Alberta voted to stay in Canada & also to be a bunch of racist pricks while doing it. The referendum laid bare people’s underlying fears about the Other. The one thing QC & AB separatist movements have in common is the racism embedded in both.
Today feels hopeless from my seat.
Me too. Terribly, it’s going to get one hell of a lot worse. As Herr Hideous Harper promised years ago, now being unfolded by his servant Herr Hideous Carney, we will not recognize our county anymore. She’ll be gone, very quickly with so many evil Nazis operating freely and cruelly, and racists being rewarded for their religious inhumanity.![]()
I don’t see any of the talking heads
they’re fucking racist too
addressing the referendum & its questions in the context of Indigenous people. Indigenous people tried to stop this entire thing, and the court agreed, and Smith and her ilk called them names. Elections Alberta didn’t even send them enough ballots to vote.
Alberta voted to reintroduce a head tax. Yes. That’s what Question 4 was all about. Charging people fees so they are limited in their ability to prosper. Most of us learned about Canada’s horrible history with head tax in school. Apparently we learned nothing about human rights violations.
We learned, but the majority of Albertans don’t give a damn, as they sit in their fucking churches, arrogantly believing god loves them.![]()
Alberta voted to violate human rights. Some children across grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 in Calgary (I know because I sing on the choir with their former teacher) who aren’t in school right now because their immigration paperwork is in question. That’s Question 2 in action, rights of children be damned
@rastus01.bsky.social:
This result makes me ashamed to be an albertan. All of us are immigrants FFS.:
Not the First Nations.![]()
@nigelb.bsky.social:
It’s interesting that of the 9, the 1 Q that voters are balking at is Q8 the “opt out of federal programs with full compensation”.
What does that tell me? That Albertans don’t trust Smith to deliver on those national health care, social service & educational programs.
@journodale.bsky.social:
The referendums aren’t making policy. They’re manufacturing consent for the policies [Smith] was enacting already.
@orlaghokelly.bsky.social:
Danielle rigged her 9 questions from beginning to end
But make no mistake, they are all also unconstitutional like her stupid seppie enablement.
Call an election.
Now
@sashafury.myatproto.social:
It’s disappointing how people responded to the other (pre)referendum questions. But I also suspect that the questions were too confusing for people to deal with, so problem the bigots voted by a larger margin on those.
I do wish people could’ve taken the time to figure those questions out ahead of time, though.
some might figure it out, when there are no immigrants to serve our health care, food prep, teaching, cleaning, meat processing, etc. but instead of realizing the hell they created for themselves in Alberta, they’ll blame Trudeau.![]()
A Canadian Original:
so the majority of Albertans who want to stay in Canada are also racist. got it.
@canadiancynic.bsky.social:
I am still waiting for someone to explain the legal or constitutional basis such that even a majority of racist, scientifically illiterate, cousin-humping Albertan hillbillies could walk off with the province of Alberta, given that it does not belong to them.

@canadiancynic.bsky.social:
Given the distribution of voting around the province of Alberta, the one thing the referendum established beyond any doubt is that most rural Albertans really are ignorant, racist hillbillies.
Yup, I’ve lived and worked among them for decades in various parts of the province, for the most part, many are immigrants themselves and now don’t want to share Alberta with new immigrants; the “christian white nationalist” (aka Nazis) ones especially do not want to share with anyone that is not white christian male. But, sadly, there are also many illiterate Albertans which the UCP damned well know – I bet those did not read the racist hate-farming questions, because they couldn’t, so they did what they always do, listen to and believe their lying Con MPs and MLAs/premier.![]()
What a sad legacy.
@Songstress28:
That’s how it’s done.
Alberta Is Indian Land.
First Nations voters turned out in such numbers that polls on reserves ran out of ballots. But the fight isn’t necessarily over.

@canadiancynic.bsky.social:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t someone recently explain that a separation referendum is a pointless exercise since a gaggle of unhappy dumbass Albertans do not own Alberta and therefore have absolutely no legal right to walk off with it, no matter how many dumbasses vote for that.
***
@orlaghokelly.bsky.social:
Yup.
But let’s also not lose sight of the fact that these questions were manipulated and publicly funded to appear not racist.
@christibelcourt.com Oct 20, 2026
I’m very glad that voters in Alberta resoundingly defeated the question on separation. Voter turn out among First Nations broke records. But to be clear, First Nations were voting because Alberta is Indigenous land. And separatists don’t have any right to do this without First Nation consent.
I think this is important to remember because First Nations voices were not centred in this process and they should have been, and now that the “win for Canada” is being claimed, First Nation votes and voices and the reasons why they voted are being grouped in with “proud to be Canadian” ones.
This misses the opportunity for Albertans and Canadians on a whole swing hard towards a better Alberta for all. Because the separatists vow to never quit. And for the pro-Canada side, they go home and feel the referendum is the end of it.
I also think the answer to “yes” on the rest of the questions reveals what Indigenous people already know – a person can vote against separation, wave the flag of Canada, be patriotic, and still be deeply bigoted, racist, anti-Indigenous, and anti-immigrant.
Things are changing whether people like it or not. The only way I see out of this is to push hard to the left to bring us into a future where we care for everyone, including the land and water. First Nations, Inuit & Metis can lead these conversations as we are already well versed in how to do this.
@ms-sally.bsky.social:
The future is indigenous (I am non-indigenous). Unless we reconnect with the land under the leadership of those with direct knowledge and relationship with the earth, there is no real future for any of us.
@barbaragirouard.bsky.social:
I am very disappointed that so many voting Albertans blame immigrants for the failures of the politicians to provide better quality services while giving tax breaks to the richest along with squandering public money on questionable contracts instead of properly funding healthcare, education, & AISH.
@heartisthecompass.bsky.social:
With you both on all you’ve both said. Authoritarians below and above the border are also not going to quit so easily – nor stop stroking racism to boost their aims.
Not unlike the way the far right in France are trying to co-opt French dissatisfaction over quality of life. HARD Left is imperative.
The numbers coming in from Alberta are wild. Traditionally conservative blue Calgary voted in numbers as high as 89% to support Canada. The separatist gang were crushed. Sucks to be you Danielle Smith and Pete Hoekstra.

@dimcl2.bsky.social:
Calgarians’ focus is, and always has been, on the almighty dollar and they know that a separate #Alberta would cost them dearly.
Even though pro oil and gas areas = pro separation, which is not surprising given that the industry in Alberta is heavily American owned/managed/influenced/controlled. The USA rich fuckers want our resources to publicly profit off of and destroy our health care, and everything else, for free, no regs, no royalties (they barely pay anything as it is), no clean-up and Team Harper, Smith & Carney are eager to provide.![]()

@krisbcanadian.bsky.social:
We, the rest of Canada, are not adopting a racist anti-immigrant constitution. Sorry, not sorry Alberta.
@missgiven.bsky.social:
There are plenty of us who aren’t virulent racists.
@mzcoach160458.bsky.social:
Yes, but they mostly voted yes to the rest of the questions which is fucking horrible
@kitkatnorthof60.bsky.social:
Except Alberta has shown its true colours when it comes to immigrants. I’m sickened by the yes votes for questions 1 – 5. Zero compassion/empathy for those trying to start a new life in Canada. Smith is using them to distract from her own ineptitude & voters went along with it. It’s disgusting.
@cooks-8.bsky.social:
Corruptcare distractions. She should have been removed when caught about lying of her knowledge of the health contract interference from her own office. She’s a liar or incompetent , neither is leadership worthy
@greenglassworm.bsky.social:
SHE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT SEPARATION.
She’s winning on almost every question she actually cares about.
@krismorris.bsky.social:
Exactly this, more fights with Ottawa means more shifting of blame.
But, she and Harper-Carney are on the same fucking racist destroy Canada team. Carney’s given her everyfuckingthing she demands, and I bet he’ll give her immigration too, even though she’s proven she can’t manage a nail clipper or hair highlights.![]()
@calgarycanuck.bsky.social:
My concerns are with the divisive 9 questions. They’re all close and many are going to pass. Danielle Smith and the UCP will spin the results in ways that will do incalculable damage to Alberta both economically and politically. They show that half the citizens are both selfish and racist.
@cindylee2102.bsky.social:
Get ready for private healthcare for all. Immigrants are just the trial balloon.
Immigrants are vital component of our health care system.![]()
@nanakaren11.bsky.social:
But they still voted yes on the racist anti-immigrant questions.
@june29.bsky.social:
AB is lower consciousness than rest of Canada. Just like TX and deep south vs rest of USA.
Deeply, hatefully, cruelly religious highly illiterate places![]()

@johnhatchard.bsky.social:
Clearly question 10 is a win for unity but isn’t losing most of the questions 1 through 9 a loss of Alberta in spirit? This feels like the trojan horse that got everything else the separatists wanted through the back door to finish turning Alberta into essentially a ‘MAGA State’.
@june29.bsky.social:
Those ill-treated immigrants will find work in the rest of Canada where infrastructure & building will be buzzing. AB will have a hard time finding workers to fulfill all their new initiatives.
@june29.bsky.social:
Just like USA, they vote in an idiot
and who is not in charge of herself, others are
and then complain that the government doesn’t work.

@acadiendeclare.bsky.social:
I was always warned, as an Acadian, to not go to Alberta for the rampant bigotry.
@trav3lguy.bsky.social:
One of my friends had a rental car with Quebec licence plates. She got the middle finger and was yelled at multiple times.
Racist idiots!
@elitestuber.bsky.social:
That was one of 10 questions. The results to the other 9 are pure Alberta.
@aarwalk.bsky.social:
When are we putting Rath and Sylvestre on trial?
@cooks-8.bsky.social:
Danielle first
@petitrivergirl.bsky.social:
Now let’s work on getting rid of these two – Danielle Smith and Pete Hoekstra!
@maladamus.bsky.social:
If they separated Trump would take them over for their oil faster than you can say Venezuela.
@therealronaldrump.bsky.social:
Pete should be immediately removed from Canada and denied re-entry
Harper Carney is on Team Trump, Carney gives Trump what he wants, traitorous con man that he is.![]()
@brucecoguy.bsky.social:
Why did Danielle Smith launch the referendum when only 25% voted for separation? IPSOS has tracked that for the past 20 years 20% of Alberta had the wish to separate. Nothing new.
Most areas have malcontents; Alberta’s are louder, more hate-filled because they’re heavily religious propagandized, and more stupid greedy selfish and vulgar than most because of the tarshits that USA thinks is theirs, and Team USA-Russia want our country.
She has instead managed to strengthen the movement, include US and Russian involvement and she should be investigated.
@chadnunn.bsky.social:
Establishment media bent over backwards to legitimize this movement.
One of the first things to rot when Nazis erupt, is the media, then, the law
Imagine of one progressive idea had 1/5th of the traction this got.
@pomian.bsky.social:
For example, let’s build some solar panels?
@cestlafolie.bsky.social:
Danielle & Hoekie can go suck eggs alright
@dwoolvett.bsky.social:
Now the RCMP should investigate the Seppie leaders for treason
Will not happen. The leaders are disgusting old racist white “religious” men. Just look to how the RCMP let Kenney’s alleged crimes slide into oblivion. Old white chubby religious man.![]()
@mrrochester.bsky.social:
It is too bad, then, that on the 5 immigration questions the same Albertans voted yes.
But, of course, a racist Alberta in Canada is better than an Alberta that is a US state. But it’s still going to go after immigrants and non-permanent residents — now with a renewed mandate for hate.
@hollyhoye.bsky.social:
The stupid, it burns.
Also, the racism. And the pro-trump rhetoric, and . .

@tuangi.bsky.social:
JHC. Who gives a shit about the “land” when there’s like 1 person in what, 10 square miles? He’s taking that from the repubes who do the same thing with their stupid red map. He needs to get a new schtick.
@cougsta.bsky.social:
Wow. That AB crest with wheat fields under water and the bitumen blobs floating above is, well, weird.
@mustlov3d0gz.bsky.social:
Wait till he finds out most of that “land” is covered by Treaties lol
@tkrause.bsky.social:
Well, we knew they weren’t the brightest lot to begin with and this only reveals that we may have underestimated the depth of their stupidity. That’s an impressive feat.
@stevericketts.bsky.social:
gawd, Rath makes me want to puke. at least he’ll have more time now to work on his legal and money challenges, and the media can stop interviewing him?

@betulina.bsky.social:
Van Ghoul
@hab3261.bsky.social:
Realize we’re all being manipulated.
Good read by Democracy Watch.
Don’t blame all voters—put most of the blame where it belongs: on the process, Smith, and the UCP.
And Mark Carney for letting them abuse the process, Albertans and public funds, with his endless evil and lies helping them along. ![]()
democracywatch.ca/albertas-ref…
@calgarycanuck.bsky.social:
Danielle Smith is going to tell us she has a strong mandate for the 9 even though the majority didn’t vote on them and real support is only marginally greater than for separation. The separation question was only there to increase voter turn out so she could lie about the numbers.
@calgarybuffalo.bsky.social:
I worked as a scrutineer and wow, the process given was dismal.
They treated the returning officers to a bizarre amount of work with not the resources needed. The people who counted did a great job, no issues with what they did. The people doing the work were great. Underfunded, underpaid.
of course not. Herr Hideous Harper failed during his time as PM to destroy Canada and turn us American Religious Republican. we punted his evil ass, but, he’s back coaching his evil twin, Mark Carney, and is IDU chair – the IDU works to turn the world Nazi religious con.![]()

@canadiancynic.bsky.social:
Dear Albertans: The next time that you can’t get decent medical care due to provincial underfunding, remember that Danielle Smith blew more than $125 million on that stupid fucking referendum.
Also, money aside, can anyone estimate the countless thousands of hours of emotional and psychological stress and campaigning people went through to deal with this ignorant, racist nonsense?
