“Have you been fracking?” by Mike Baldwin, November 19, 2014

@andygheorghiu.bsky.social:
US motherfracker Chris Wright demands that EU gets rid of #climate, #methane & Due Dilligence legislations!
Energy secretary also says European climate rules threaten trade deal with Trump administration
… Wright, who has been criticised by green groups as Trump’s “fracker-in-chief” and a climate denier, said Brussels climate rules and its “crusade” to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 posed a major threat to the EU-US trade deal.
The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Methane Regulation and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive would create “huge legal risks” for US companies selling fossil fuels into Europe unless they underwent “massive modifications”, he said.
“The whole trade talks would fall apart if Europe or the US don’t hold up their end of the deal . . . so I think those regulations significantly threaten the ability to implement the trade deal that was agreed to,” said Wright. “Net zero 2050 is just a colossal train wreck . . . Its just a monstrous human impoverishment programme and of course there is no way it is going to happen.”

The US oil and gas industry is adamant that their gas has very low associated methane emissions.
And yet they say complying with EU methane regulations would required “massive modifications.”
Both of those can’t be true. And the first one isn’t.
@karinkirk.bsky.social:
These petro bros are so transparent anymore. The notion of less pollution is so scary to them, “a monstrous impoverishment program.” All they want to do is squeeze a few more years of limitless profits for their industries. They will tell bigger and fatter and more laughable lies along the way.

@emmettmacfarlane.com:
As part of a new climate plan, or as abandoning any commitments to reduce emissions? Carney might as well have run for the Conservative leadership.
@bhaggart.bsky.social:
Carney’s “proposed separation or resistance is very obviously not what is actually happening.”
This is exactly correct. As I’ve noted for months, Carney’s actual economic and security policies are preparing Canada for deeper integration with the US.
Carney has consistently promised a new comprehensive trade and security agreement with the US and has sacrificed Canadian laws to keep this dream alive. He has continued to seek not just cooperation but formal integration with US security forces.
He’s completely ignored the direct threat that US dominance of online US communications companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft and X pose to our communication sovereignty (think: fake news, propaganda, Meta’s news blackout).
The Safe Third Country Agreement remains a thing, even though the US is obviously no longer a safe country. Canada’s US travel advisory remains a running joke. Canadians harassed at the border or in ICE custody don’t even merit a sidelong glance.
Most telling is the least glamorous: not just zero investment in reinforcing Canadian regulatory agencies and government/military computer networks against US dependence and influence. But rather slashing government at the very moment we need it most. Absent these moves, new data centres are a joke.
That Carney, a former central banker who lived and died by inflation targets, has the gall to say that he’s interested in environmental results, not objectives, is a huge red flag. It’s an insultingly ridiculous statement—results imply objectives—at utter odds with his cultivated technocrat image.
Mark Carney won’t endorse greenhouse gas targets, says he’s focused on ‘results, not objectives’
The prime minister advocated for a “grand bargain” that could see regulations changed to facilitate a new export pipeline from Alberta’s oilsands — if a major project to reduce emissions
Tl;dr: Carney was elected on the promise that he is a serious, technocratic leader who will strengthen Canadian independence. He’s ’s failing on both counts. Canadians need to start pressing the Liberals on why their leader’s actions simply do not match his stated intentions.

Exclusive: Canada may drop oil emissions cap as part of new climate plan, sources say by Amanda Stephenson, September 12, 2025, Reuters
- Summary
- Canada considers scrapping oil emissions cap for climate strategy
- Alberta must commit to emissions reduction for cap removal
- Oil sector’s emissions rise, risking climate goals by 2030
CALGARY, Sept 11 (Reuters) – Canada’s government is in discussions with energy companies and the oil-producing province Alberta about eliminating a federal cap on emissions from the country’s oil and gas sector if the industry and province reduce their carbon footprint in other ways, three sources with knowledge of the talks said.
Canada’s emissions cap has not yet been implemented through legislation. But the prospect of it has been broadly condemned by Canadian oil and gas companies who have said it will force them to cut production.
They are lying, as usual. It will not force them to cut production, it forces the greedy douche fuckers to reduce their deadly pollution which costs money. They are so fucking greedy, they are willing to destroy earth’s livability to put more cash into their already stuffed bank accounts.![]()
Prime Minister Mark Carney, who won the April election promising to protect Canada’s economy from U.S. tariffs, has faced some criticism for stepping away from his Liberal Party’s previous emphasis on the environment.
Carney is a fraud, He is NOT A LIBERAL. He’s a Harper con, he’s worse than Harper ever was. He’s not serving Canada, he’s serving Nazi USA and its rich fucking grossly polluting law violating oil and gas companies which already get away with too much. Regulators, corrupt politicians like Danielle Smith et al, and our filthy courts let foreign companies break the law, intentionally leak (aka dump) toxic waste, contaminate surface and ground water, and air, and kill workers, and get away with it.![]()
His government’s tone has changed significantly from a few weeks ago, sources said, adding officials had until recently suggested the emissions cap would stay in place. The sources were not authorized to speak publicly about the discussions.
Carney said during the election campaign he would keep the emissions cap, which is not scheduled to take effect until 2030. His predecessor, Justin Trudeau, published draft regulations for the cap in November.
Nothing Carney or anything his “Liberal” Nazis say is trustworthy or believable.![]()
The sources said the current talks could lead to the emissions cap being scrapped as part of a broader new “climate competitiveness strategy,” which the federal government aims to unveil later this autumn.
when ever a con gov’t like Harper’s, Moe’s, Smith’s, Ford’s or Carney’s mentions streamlining or reducing red tape or competitiveness, it means a pollution free for all, deregulation, and usually comes with massive billions of dollars in more freebies stolen from taxpayers. Just demented endless betrayals by Con Man Carney. He must be removed from power as soon as possible, but he has conned many, who are so star struck by him, they cannot see who he really is: Fucking racist Zionistiche misogynistic cruel lying Nazi.![]()
GOVERNMENT REVIEWING FEEDBACK ON CAP
Carney’s office referred Reuters to the federal Environment Department, which said the government is reviewing feedback on the emissions cap.
While mechanisms like caps can play a role in building a future that reduces emissions, “we are not going to get there through regulation alone,” an Environment Department spokesperson said in a statement.
what a fucking stupid irresponsible thing to say. Rule by corporate rape. Excellent way to destroy a livable climate and sicken communities forced to breath, eat and drink industry’s vomit, piss, and shit, while regulators do what? Give Adolf Orange and Gwyn Morgan blow jobs?![]()
“Canada’s new government is committed to climate policy that is unifying, credible, and predictable
WTF?????
; that reduces emissions, drives investment, and builds the economy of
destroys
the future
for all but the rich
,” the statement said.
Pure Steve Harper/Adolf Orange bullshit. Committed to means deregulation to free for all rape and pillage, and let industry write their own fucking non rules. Unifying means give raping polluting companies and Trump whatever they demand. Credible means what makes GDP rise to make billionaires richer, with zero regard for human life, or any other species, and no regard for safe air, water, land, or food. Carney is a fucking cowardly idiot. Predictable means companies know they can do as they please to make the most profits possible, fuck life, fuck earth, fuck water, fuck clean air, fuck livable climate, and fuck the communities we invade and poison.![]()
Canada’s Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson declined to discuss details of the negotiations, but said in an interview on Thursday the federal government is committed to delivering clean and conventional
there is nothing clean about bitumen, or frac’d LNG, or frac’d oil or condensate
energy in an environmentally responsible way.
“Environmentally responsible is code for fucking free-for-all, with no rules, no regulations, and industry allowed to do as it pleases, while stealing from the future and taxpayers to let billion dollar raping companies walk from clean up. Carney and his KKKLan are Harper2, despicable traitors.![]()
“Our government is focused on results
only riches for the rich
, not how we get there
fuck regulations and pollution controls, Carney is copying Trump’s decimation of pollution reductions and controls, or, he’s following Trump’s orders to do so. Pathetic con man lying coward
,” Hodgson said.
Any move to eliminate the cap would be contingent on Alberta and the oil sector making renewed, serious commitments to emissions reduction, including, but not limited to, moving ahead with the Pathways carbon capture and storage project, two of the sources said.
Pathways is known to be a failure, will massively increase pollution, with enormous costs and waste of resources to build. Carney and his ilk know it’s a con job to steal from the public to pay for it (industry does not want to pay for it, because they know it won’t work!) so that billion dollar profit raping companies can dramatically increase production of their archaic, poisonous products much of the world no longer wants.![]()
Canada’s new climate competitiveness strategy will focus on “results over objectives and investments over prohibition,” Carney said this week at a meeting of the ruling Liberal Party in Edmonton.
Fucking quisling asshole![]()

Oil and gas is Canada’s highest-emitting industry, and its emissions continue to rise due to rising production in the country’s oil
tar
sands region.
Ottawa will likely fall short of its international climate commitment to reduce greenhouse emissions by 40-45% from 2005 levels by 2030 unless the oil and gas sector intensifies efforts to decarbonize.
No such thing. It’s impossible to decarbonize anything oil, gas, coal or bitumen related. Just another Carney Con job to con the masses. Evil Fucker Carney.![]()
“It would be a tragic mistake for the Liberal
Harper2
government to back off on climate action while wildfires are still burning across this country,” Greenpeace Canada strategist Keith Stewart said.
Under the terms of the cap, the federal government would require its oil and gas sector to cut emissions to 137 million metric tons, 37% below 2022 levels, by 2030.
Carney promised to make Canada the “world’s leading energy superpower,” forging ahead with clean

Making any severely polluting industry more competitive means deregulation. Disgusting Carney conning the world.![]()

He has also sought to mend federal relations with Alberta, which under Trudeau had become increasingly rocky due to that government’s heavy focus on environmental issues.
Alberta is the spoiled rotten child that is never pleased, no matter how many billions of Canadian’s tax dollars it is given to freely pollute and kill, or how many concessions it gets. Nothing Harper2 will do, will please the almighty quisling queen Smith, run by extreme lunatic anti science, anti life, anti health, anti reality, anti water, anti air, anti land earth and environment, anti climate, anti rule of law, racist, misogynistic bigoted hate-filled unbelievably greedy anti-christian evangelicals![]()
Canadian oil and gas companies have repeatedly said other Trudeau-era legislation, including a ban on oil tankers off British Columbia’s north coast, must be repealed to significantly jump-start private investment.
Bullshit! They – mostly rich Amerikkkans – are making billions upon billions of dollars while illegally not paying their taxes, breaking the law again and again including illegally frac’ing community drinking water aquifers with authorities helping them do it, and walking from clean up. Canada is a beautiful but now toxic cesspool of corporation corruption and devastation. Is Amanda et al, as listed below, propagandizing the public into accepting Carney undoing the tanker ban? Their article stinks of frac sewage to me.![]()

So, the industry said they could meet emissions targets, then as soon as greenwashing laws came in, started crying that these targets were unfair and would kill the industry, and now Carney’s government is poised to let them get away with it. Do I have that right?

Yes. CCS has always been a delay and diversion tactic to buy time to extract and burn fossil fuels. The most cost effective way to reduce carbon emissions is a combination of renewable energy sources and batteries.

US taxpayers will pay billions in new fossil fuel subsidies thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill by Wired, Sept 14, 2025, in Grist
It looks like Trump-copying Carney is planning to give $billions more to big polluters – most of them American companies – in Canada too.![]()
A report finds that President Trump’s flagship legislation will grant $40 billion in **new** subsidies to the oil and gas industry over the next decade.
The U.S. government and U.S. taxpayers support the fossil fuel industry in many ways not examined in depth in this report, but that nonetheless maintain the oil, gas, and coal industries’ political relevance and ongoing presence in American life. These ways include supporting fossil fuel projects overseas and in the United States with international public finance, deploying U.S. military force to protect fossil fuel assets and key transport routes, and leaving the public to bear the health and environmental costs and other externalities of oil, gas, and coal production, processing, transport, and consumption.
In the 1990s, a study estimated an annual USD 10.5 to 26.2 billion in U.S. military spending that was directly attributable to defending oil supplies just in the Persian Gulf Region; that would equate to USD 22.2 to 55.3 billion annually in 2024 dollars, without considering any additional military buildup over the previous decades.119 In a 2010 study looking at just the Persian Gulf, the researchers found that “a very large fraction” of the annual USD 500 billion spent on U.S. military expenditures in the region is related to oil.
…
“It’s no secret that Trump and the Republicans are on the side of the fossil fuel industry and very much vice versa,” says Rees. “The fossil fuel industry spent hundreds of millions of dollars getting Republicans and Trump elected. They then presented their wish lists. Nearly everything on those wish lists was fulfilled, and in fact, they got a bunch of additional goodies that weren’t even in those wish lists.”
…
Carbon capture and storage is the process of capturing CO2 emissions and injecting them deep underground. The oil and gas industry has for decades injected CO2 underground to help recover difficult reserves that don’t respond well to traditional drilling methods. Environmentalists have long argued that the logic of replicating an oil and gas technique as a climate solution is seriously flawed — especially considering that a company could reap a climate tax credit from injecting CO2 that will then be used to create more fossil fuels.
