@rshereme:
No, the U.S. did not defeat Hitler.
Trump has announced that he will rename Victory in Europe Day to “Victory in World War II Day” to recognize that the U.S. “did more than any other country, by far, in producing a victorious result in World War II.”
This is actually quite funny, considering that several years ago Trump claimed that “russia defeated Hitler.” I responded at the time by pointing out that Trump doesn’t know history — because russia didn’t defeat Hitler. It was the joint effort of the Allied forces, including the U.S.
That post of mine went viral on Twitter, reaching over 40 million people. But, of course, the MAGA crowd began harassing me, and the post was eventually censored and taken down. Donald Trump Jr. even chimed in, claiming I didn’t know what I was talking about.
Now, by Trump’s own logic, russia didn’t defeat Hitler — the U.S. did. And once again, I will say: no, the U.S. did not defeat Hitler. It was a collective victory achieved by the Allied nations.
