On November 10, 2024, and again on May 17, 2025, my client, David Shultz, was arrested at Palestine solidarity protests in Toronto.
The past week saw both prosecutions collapse – one through a withdrawal, and the other through an acquittal after trial.

As an organizer, allowing this sign to be displayed should be grounds for an @LawSocietyLSO review. And yet, it was Guidy’s protege, Daniel Mandelbaum, who made a failed complaint against me for a Tweet. My Tweet was about Kevin Vuong’s proximity to the zionist lobby when he was an MP. Nasty business.

I found the woman behind the sign. Her name is Rinat Samuel of “RStylebyDesign” (http://instagram.com/rstylebydesign). She is an Israeli immigrant in Toronto who, like other Israeli immigrants in this country, stopped working to consistently protest against people who support Palestine and their right to self-determination. She also spreads anti-Muslim hate speech in some of her content
It is important we do our part to let racist people know that they will no longer be rewarded for their behaviour and in fact, there are consequences to it. Please do NOT harass or contact Rinat but make it costly for her to be openly racist – make sure fashion industry aligned institutions and people are aware. And share this post so that her name, and this sign, make it to search engines
This is the clearest picture I have found of this vile sign to date. This sign uses a rat in a keffiyeh in an attempt to equate Palestinians to vermin and then links Palestinians to a growing virus. This is a dehumanizing trope depicting a contagious threat and paints Palestinians as dangerous and subhuman, meeting the definition of hate speech
I would argue this sign also incites hostility through degrading, genocidal imagery. And I will never get over the fact that the only time anybody gave a shit about signs at Bathurst and Sheppard, was when a Jewish person was on one. Months after months after months went by and nobody said anything about this sign. No investigation, no nothing
