Slovenia has officially just become the first European Union country to sanction Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
Slovenia becomes the first EU country to take independent economic action against Israel after the European Union failed to produce a single consequence against Israel’s war on the occupied Palestinian territories. The EU’s action plan from last Monday confirmed individual countries more latitude.
Slovenia is expected to be followed by other countries in the coming days and weeks, including Ireland, Spain, and Sweden as well as Belgium and the Netherlands. It is said that France is considering it.

At today’s meeting, the Slovenian government adopted a measure to declare Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich as persona non grata, Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon announced.
