@ryanhumphrey.bsky.social:
”a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada” isn’t a pro-Canada statement

“The position of our party, the UCP caucus and the UCP government is that we believe in a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada.”
UCP release new pro-Canada statement after party president declines to pick a side in separation debate
Smith and UCP are separatists and MAGAty liars, as are their separatists. I don’t believe this new UCP statement just like I don’t believe Mitch Sylvestre and his KKKlan got the required number of signatures, but, there’s that damn stolen slogan again.![]()

@jimmycraig42.bsky.social:
So she supports separation and is a traitor
@lesjfrie.bsky.social:
The same local woman told David Eby that BC belonged to Canada.
@anita72.bsky.social:
She’s trashing anyone who is against her pipeline. What a bitch. She’s working for Trump.
The UCP and separatists all are, Carney too. It’s a big fat ugly traitor party,![]()
@djchocolatemlk.bsky.social:
Not even good gaslighting. It’s insulting their lies suck so much.
@hard2bgreene.bsky.social:
So, “We want all of the benefits but none of the responsibilities or restrictions of being a part of Canada. And the power to trample on the rights of other provinces. Or we’re going to throw a hissy.
Look, our stance is simple and straightforward: What’s ours is ours and what’s yours is ours too.”
@steve-p47.bsky.social:
I would really like to have Smith and/or the party clearly define how this concept of sovereign yet still within Canada is supposed to work.
To my mind it just does not compute, the statement is a true oxymoron.
They might also want to explain how they’ll deal with native treaties.
Smith, the UCP, and their separatists are racist fuckers, they plan to not deal with any treaties. I think they’re expecting Trump to deport all Indigenous for them. ![]()
@mattpark10.bsky.social:
Pretty fucking insulting, but then all of this is.
@haxim.ca:
@cdnpress.bsky.social taking some pretty big liberties extrapolating that to:
“The party issued a new statement Wednesday after the premier spoke, saying it supports Alberta staying in Canada, adding it has always supported Alberta staying in Canada.”
@allij.bsky.social:
Oh my god how fucking stupid does she think we are???

@hab3261.bsky.social:
Changed the sign. Its been THREE weeks and Danielle Smith and the UCP has been silent about the voter data breach– but we have new entrance signs.
#EmbraceCorruption #CelebrateCorruption #WasteMoney #abpoli

Welcome to Alberta
Strong and Free Voter Data

@thomasowen7.bsky.social:
So now the separatists are invoking the Parizeau rule. Hopefully it sunsets their fever dream. Next up: new licence plates with the new slogan replacing “Wild Rose Country” with “Strong and Free”.
Begs the question……free from what?
Land of Incessant Bitching.

@hab3261.bsky.social:
Nothing says a “Free Alberta” republic like spending $3.5 million on welcome signs featuring a national park – land that would be completely excluded from the new republic if it ever actually separated. The Irony is wilder than the roses.

Dismal news. No longer a welcome to wildrose country.
And BTW when did we establish “border entry points” with our neighbouring provinces and territories? Or is this just in anticipation of secession?

@thebreakdownab.bsky.social:
Alberta has quietly announced the province will be updating the welcoming signs at provincial borders.
Alberta separatists and their leader in crime, Danielle Smith, have zero imagination – always copying from Canada, FFS. “Strong and free” is copied right out of Canada’s National Anthem, and Danielle copied her “sovereign Alberta within a united Canada” slogan from Quebec – the province most hated by rural Albertans. FFS. Yvon Deschamps created “Un Québec indépendant dans un Canada uni” in 1977 for a fucking comedy show.![]()

I saw this caption in our local paper this morning
New sign for Alberta “Welcome to Alberta. Help us”

@naheednenshi.bsky.social:
Last week, two UCP ministers said they didn’t support Danielle Smith’s plan to ignore the courts and force a referendum for her separatist friends. Today, they both “resigned” from cabinet. Danielle Smith serves only the separatists.

@trueoak.bsky.social:
I’m glad Smith will have a cabinet management issue but these two were quite happy to support her in her ongoing agenda to create an authoritarian state within Canada. They will still be part of the problem.
Yup, all that stayed in the UCP after the first half year of Smith as leader, are shit Nazis and never to be trusted.
We need to stop them from destroying our country & get them out of the Alberta government.
@thebreakdownab.bsky.social:
BREAKING!!!
Nate Horner is resigning as finance minister and confirms that he will NOT be running with Smith in the next provincial election!
Good riddance, both Jones and Horner were useless, except at serving Smith’s Nazis, the rich, and destroying affordability for ordinary Albertans![]()
@itmustbebunnies.bsky.social:
…
My entire street in Calgary put up UCP signs for that homophobic asshole Jason Kenney and it broke my heart
I knew I was done and started the slow process of getting ready to sell our home of 30+ years

Welcome to Alberta: If you know what’s good for you, you’ll turn around right now.
@PaulChampLaw:
The separatists in Alberta want to oust Smith as UCP leader and premier. IMO @jkenney made a terrible mistake by killing the PC party in his effort to “Unite the Right”. Keeping those folks in their own fringe party was better. He faced the consequences – now so will AlbertaCanada.![]()
